About Jay Pickthorn | Photojournalist

Jay Pickthorn is currently a staff photographer for Argus Leader Media in Sioux Falls. Formerly, he freelanced for the Associated Press from 2009 to 2010. He was also a staff photographer for The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead from 2007 to 2009. Pickthorn has also worked on the staff of the Grand Forks Herald in Grand Forks, ND, and the Gillette News Record in Gillette, WY.

He grew up in rural Sisseton, SD, and graduated high school in 2000. Pickthorn earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Mass Communications

from Minnesota State University Moorhead, with a double emphasis in advertising and photojournalism.

He is available for assignments in South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota and North Dakota. He is also willing to travel throughout the United States and abroad.
